Board members

Trevor Begg

Trevor Begg is Interim Chair of the Hillingdon LINk.

Trevor joined the LINk as a volunteer after 3/4 years as an individual and as part of relatives groups campaigning for better standards of care in residential nursing homes in Hillingdon and Hounslow. This gave Trevor a detailed understanding of health, social care and regulatory structures.

Trevor has spent the last 20 years working in residential and commercial property development and currently works as a consultant specialising in commercial property management and re-development.

Michael Hill MBE

Michael Hill MBE is Interim Vice Chair of the Hillingdon LINk

Michael worked 10 years on the administrative staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and then National Westminster Bank where he retired as a senior manager.

Over many years he has represented patients and the public being a Community Health Council member and was Hillingdon Primary Care Trust Patients Forum Chairman. He is Chairman of Charing Cross Kidney Patients Association and former Chairman and Life Vice President of the National Kidney Federation.

Michael Hill was awarded an MBE for his ’services to healthcare’, in particular for his work with kidney patients.

Judith Lever

Judith Lever is Interim Treasurer of the Hillingdon LINk

Judith has been involved as a volunteer in Hillingdon for many years. She is a past member and chair of Hillingdon Community Health Council (CHC), and also of the Patient and Public Involvement Forum (PPIF) for Hillingdon Primary Care Trust. She is Vice Chair of Hillingdon Association of Voluntary Services (HAVS), and has held both local and national positions in the League of Jewish Women, a voluntary social welfare organisation that works across all communities.

She works part-time in property management and has a grown up family.

Judith hopes that the LINk will help Hillingdon residents to access high quality health and social care.

Ann Temmink

Ann Temmink is a Board Member of the Hillingdon LINk

Ann has been a resident of Hillingdon since 1972. She has worked in the NHS as a therapist since 1968 in various locations and more specifically, since 1981 was based within Hillingdon in a variety of different positions for the NHS. Her roles have lead to co-operative working with the LEA and Social Services.

She sees her knowledge and experience in these areas being useful in maintaining and contributing to fair and equitable services for the residents of Hillingdon via LINk.

Beulah Mary East

Beulah Mary East

Beulah Mary East is a Board Member of the Hillingdon LINk

Beulah is a retired nurse. Her background is within Health and Social Services and the Private Sector.

As a past carer, she has been campaigning for improved services for carers.

As a LINk Board Member, she feels that we could be ambassadors for the public.

Nicholas Pelas

Nicholas Pelas is a Board Member of the Hillingdon LINk

Nicholas Pelas was appointed Assistant Director of Hillingdon Mind in March 2011 supporting the CEO in her work and managing the housing team.

He is by no means a stranger to Hillingdon with experience of working for Hillingdon third sector HAVS in 2008/9, and was involved in the early formative stages of the Hillingdon Link.

Up to February 2011 Nicholas worked at neighbouring Harrow NHS where he harnessed his skills in mental health commissioning. He is considered a champion of mental health service user engagement.

In addition, he is the author of The Dementia Strategy Harrow NHS and an firm advocate of IAPT, Improving Access to Psychological Therapies.

Baj Mathur MBE

Baj Mathur MBE is a Board Member of the Hillingdon LINk

Baj Mathur retired from a career as a Chartered Architect and Town Planner in 1993, and ever since has been involved in volunteering work. He is married with two sons and five grand children.

Baj became progressively more involved in the Health and Social Care arena whilst caring for his elderly mother who suffered from Dementia. This experience motivated him to actively continue charity work to support other affected families.

His volunteering experience takes in serving Hillingdon Carers, working closely with The Princess Royal Trust and Carers UK, and retired as Chairman in 2007. He was Chairman of the London Forum of Carers to raise the profile of three quarters of a million London Carers. Baj is also currently a Board member for a number of Hillingdon based groups.

In addition to this, Baj Mathur was awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours List published in December 2007, for services to the community in the London Borough of Hillingdon.

Angela Wegener

Angela Wegener is a Board Member of the Hillingdon LINk

Angela works as Chief Officer for DASH, a Hillingdon charity working with disabled people.

Angela has been actively engaged in the local voluntary sector for 25 years and her particular interest is ensuring that all sections of the community are given equal access to health and social care services and believes that a strong and vibrant voluntary sector is a important part of that.

Chris Commerford

Chris Commerford is a Board Member of the Hillingdon LINk

A resident of the borough since 1985 I have held the position of Age UK Hillingdon Chief Executive for the past 10 years and previously was Director of Age Concern Slough.

Prior to working the in the voluntary sector my career developed in local government cumulating in the role of Older People’s Equality Advisor for Hounslow Council.
